This is a 2 part tutorial. On this page, you'll see how to both use coloring PSDs and how to make coloring PSDs. If you find this tutorial helpful or you need help, comment the CBOX or contact me on Atrocity's Facebook page.

HOW TO USE COLORING PSDS

>> Step One <<

Download the PSD you'd like to use. I have PSDs available for download here.

Pro Tip: Move the zip file or the folder to a location on your computer where it's easy for you to find.

>> Step Two <<

Go ahead and open the PSD file in your Photoshop. In the layers panel on the right side of the screen, you'll see your original image at the very bottom. Click on that layer.

>> Step Three <<

Next, you'll go to "File > Open" and find the image you'd like to use the coloring on. Open it.

>> Step Four <<

You'll see that your image now has that coloring. Move and size the image how you want it. You can then merge all your layers together by right-clicking and 'Merge Visible'.

HOW TO MAKE COLORING PSDS

>> Step One <<

Open up any image that you wanna test on.

>> Step Two <<

Experimenting on this step will be your bestfriend and almost necessary for finding nice coloring PSDs. Go to "Layer > New Adjustment Layer" and select which ever tool on the menu you'd like to use. From here on, I will use an example I am making.

>> Step Three <<

"Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels". Just click 'OK' on the box that pops up. Above your layers menu, there will be an area you can adjust. You can adjust yours however you'd like but here's what I did for mine.

>> Step Four <<

"Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Curves". Just click 'OK' on the box that pops up. Above your layers menu, there will be an area you can adjust. You can adjust yours to however you'd like but here's what I did for mine. Just click on the map somewhere and drag until you got to your desired appearance.

>> Step Five <<

"Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Gradient Map". Just click 'OK' on the box that pops up. Above your layers menu, there will be an area you can adjust. You can adjust yours to however you'd like but here's what I did for mine. You can click on the gradient to select your colors. In my gradient, I used #d0b7fe on the right side and #5b564a on the left. That's all I want for my coloring psd. Making it simple just to kinda show you how to make them. But we aren't done just yet.

Step Six

You will need to now put your layers in a group. As in the example below, click the new folder (in the red box).

You'll see 'Group 1' pop up at the top of your layers menu. Now select your top adjustment layer. Hold CTRL down while clicking all the other layers. They should ALL be selected now.

Now to put those layers in the Group 1, drag your selected layers on top of Group 1. Now when you click the arrow next to Group 1, those layers can hide. It makes organizing easier for you and your users. That concludes this tutorial. Congratulations, you now know how to make and use coloring psds. =D
